Finn drew a quick gasp before drawing his gun. Leland followed suite as both dispatched the guards silently. They looked around and found a manifest with prisoners.
"Here he is level 5, number 113. Seems that's right down…." He peeked out the door to his left then right "to our right, not too far."
They slowly made their way out only to see a tow truck dragging a car down the hall towards them. They both pulled to the side letting him drive by, along with two guards. They looked and saw it was a red Porsche, bleeding from the mouth and with a black eye. Without thinking Leland drew both guns and opened fire. The bullets ricocheted around the hall, hitting both the guards and incapacitating the tow truck. His heavy body absorbed the bullets. He sat up and started lumbering towards the agent, now cornered. The Porsche grabbed the tow hook and pulled down on it. He started to ram him, pushing him closer to the edge. Giving one last grin he rammed him once more and pushed him off the side five stories to his death. Finn drew his weapon and pointed it at the unknown car.
"Who are you?"
The Porsche looked over and grinned "Finn, never thought I'd see you in person comrade."
Finn was puzzled as to how he knew who he was. Leland pulled up looking at him before smirking "Viktor, you look like hammered shit."
He laughed slightly before spitting out blood "that's life in the Gulag Leland, you learn to live and that's about it."
The sounds of engines filled the hallways as orders were shouted by the guards. Hugos drove into the halls armed and ready for a fight.
"Looks like the cavalry arrived, come on let's go!" Viktor headed to the window and leapt out, Finn followed him as Leland took one last look and drove out as well. The three landed with a soft plop in the field below. The Hind lifted off and sped towards friendly airspace. Flak bursts lit up the air around them, machine gun fire from MiGs following them shook the chopper.
"Sixty seconds then we're out of Soviet airspace!"
The bursts started creeping closer, eventually cracking the front windshield. Bullets tapped at the side of the chopper, punching holes through the body.
"Ten seconds, push a little harder" Finn yelled to his friends as they flew out of Soviet airspace. The MiGs broke off while they cruised to Berlin, they dropped the Hind and flew back home in Leland's helicopter. The trip back was uneventful compared to the one they just took. The cloud buildup hid the morning sunrise. Viktor sat there staring at the ground as it drew closer. His eye started to turn back to normal as the swelling stopped slightly.
"Well, now you're out of the Gulag, what do we do with you?"
Viktor laughed and drove off the helicopter "Get me a drink, I still crave that."  They idled their way to the bar and ordered their drinks.
"So how long did you spend there?" Finn asked curiously never really having heard of a prison camp around there.
"Long enough Finn, once they found out I was a double agent, they threw me in there……when you guys found me…..I was on my way out" he sat there staring into his drink.  The other two looked at him with a somber look.
"Well at least we got you out in time. I just hope there aren't any retributions to deal with."
"Yeah I hope so too." Finn took one last drink and smiled at the two agents.
"Well we had an eventful night, I think it's time we all go and get some rest. You need it for your debriefing Viktor, 0800 hours."
"I'll be there Finn, thank you, for everything."
He gave a nod and drove out the door. Viktor sat there looking down at his broken headlight, frowning. Leland pulled up and pushed a tire against his side.
"Come on, we'll go get that fixed. Seems like those Russians did a number on you." He looked over his body at the dents that covered his panels. They gave only a small story of his stay in the Gulag.
"Yes everyday it was something. The never liked me, not only was I a double agent but a German. I was the only one of my group to survive our stay. The rest…." He looked down at the ground "they gave their lives; I heard the suffering, the screams. It's haunted me since day one."
Leland looked at him with a grim face, remembering his short imprisonment in a camp while on a raid against a terrorist group in Munich.  Closing his eyes brought back the pain and memories. The charred, crushed and twisted bodies of his comrades, screams of agony he couldn't respond to.
Driving to the hospital, Viktor was in awe of the area. His eyes followed every building, every car, and every street light. Leland watched smiling at his friend's face.
"Alright, here, they'll fix you up right Viktor. Who knows, you might get an upgrade." He laughed slightly as Viktor pulled into the operating room. The installation took only an hour, as Viktor pulled out sporting his new headlights. Pulling out of the room he gave a quick glance at his new lights before pulling towards Leland.
"Alright so when do we head out, I've got a few more comrades I need to bust out of the Gulag…"
Leland turned and gave him a quick glance, in good time Viktor, we need to take time and gather our resources before we go on a major jail break. You got lucky, well, we got lucky with you. The others won't be so easy. Ivan knows we're looking for them. I know for a fact the next mission, if there is one, won't be a cakewalk."
Viktor's brown eyes stared back at him in acknowledgement. His face gave a disbelief look yet understanding.
"Well if you do have something in mind, let me know. I have good friends in there. I don't want them to suffer as I'm free."
"I understand Viktor. We'll get your comrades out." As he pulled away he turned back and smiled "You're a good chap Viktor, putting others ahead of yourself."
The Porsche nodded and drove off back to base. Leland followed suite but taking a different route. His mind was full questions ranging from his wife's death to the ease of Viktor's jailbreak. He knew in his mind something was up, somewhere deep inside the MI6 trouble was brewing and he wanted to get to it early before it brought down this unit.
In them midst of the Gulg and the heart of former Soviet Russia, a former Spetsnaz agent is defecting to the MI6. However the fact that the two agents didn't obey a direct order is going to put them in some hot water. That is, if they weren't in it already
